Pottery Classes & Workshops

Run by Waimakariri Pottery Group at the Loburn Domain Club Rooms

We offer term-based pottery classes and creative workshops from our fully equipped studio at Loburn Domain, just north of Rangiora. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to grow your skills, there’s a space here for you to connect, create, and learn.


General Pottery Classes

Ideal for potters who know the basics and are ready to continue developing their skills. These classes offer a relaxed, supportive environment with guidance from experienced tutors to help refine your technique and progress your personal projects.

Class Times:

  • Monday Nights: 6:00pm – 9:00pm
  • Wednesday Mornings: 9:30am – 12:30pm

Cost: $270 per term (10 weeks)
Membership: Annual club membership required ($80 per year)


Beginner Pottery Class

New to clay? This class is designed for beginners and covers everything you need to get started — from hand-building and surface decoration to glazing and finishing techniques. Relaxed and friendly, it’s a great place to explore your creativity.

Class Time:

  • Wednesday Nights: 7:00pm – 9:00pm (offered in Terms 1, 2 & 3)

Cost: $250 per term (10 weeks)
Includes all tools, clay, and firings – just bring yourself (and maybe an apron!).


Beginner Wheel Pottery Class

Have you completed our beginner hand-building class and now want to try the wheel? In Term 4, join this small, supportive class and learn the basics of wheel throwing, including centering, pulling walls, and creating simple forms.

Class Time:

  • Wednesday Nights: 7:00pm – 9:00pm (Term 4)

Cost: $250 per term (10 weeks)
Includes all tools, clay, and firings – just bring yourself, an old towel, and an apron!


Upcoming Workshops

Throughout the year, we host weekend workshops with both local and visiting artists. These one-off sessions are a fantastic way to learn a new skill or try a different technique.
